One of the DEI Committee Goals is to Help Educate our Team On Various DEI-related Topics
In February of 2021, members of the EnsoData team’s internal diversity, equity, and inclusion committee met for the first time for a brainstorming session on what we could do to address our team’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Spearheaded by Andrea Ramberg, EnsoData’s Customer Success Manager, a small group of volunteers met to discuss the current state of diversity in the organization and what steps we could take to strengthen our team’s diversity. The initial brainstorming session led to an official DEI committee meeting in April 2021. Several major areas of focus were identified during that first meeting in April 2021.
The committee discussed the hiring process, specifically honing in on how EnsoData can invest in women and minority groups during the recruitment process by ensuring that we have a diverse and representative pool of candidates at each stage of evaluation. Second, the team wanted to start providing internal education on DEI topics, outlining a goal of quarterly discussion groups.
And finally, the team committed to identifying areas where EnsoData employees could volunteer time and resources to support minority groups in tech communities. The committee outlined goals to sponsor events, underwrite scholarships, and participate in mentoring programs.
One such program that the team found was the PEOPLE Program in Madison, WI.
EnsoData and the PEOPLE Program
In May of 2021, EnsoData team members hosted two virtual sessions with the PEOPLE scholarship program. The program connects underrepresented high school seniors to community partners for in-depth exploration of their top choice academic majors and careers.
These 75-minute sessions were led by members of the EnsoData team, including: Connor Sheedy, Yoav Nygate, Matt Simpson, Xica Wiltgen, Nick Glattard, Andrew Katz, Chris Fernandez, and Andrea Ramberg, with the focus of sparking interest in the intersection of technology and sleep medicine.
March 2022 Update: Beyond the initial PEOPLE program discussions in May 2021, EnsoData has continued to work with the group. The team aims to continue the partnership throughout the year.
